The Morrelly Homeland Security Center – ASFHS’ C4I facility – provides a state-of-the-art command and control site for Nassau County’s Office of Emergency Management and can be quickly converted into a 30,000 square foot joint field office in the event of a regional or national catastrophic event. We have the capacity to support most common operating picture platforms and have the ability to launch UAVs (FAA approval required) from our roof for increased situational awareness. The Center can also serve as off-site emergency operations center location for any local, state, Federal or tribal entity. |

Research There is an ongoing challenge to bring to market the best and most cost-effective homeland security products and solutions due to the vastly disparate end-user community. We have created a novel approach to address this issue: We bring together all of the interested parties in our center and encourage them to interact at a level that is currently unprecedented in this environment. Our “living lab” allows the private sector and academic institutions to get a firsthand view of what the end-user needs … thus allowing them to develop the right product or solution more efficiently. |

Economic Development For decades, New York was a center for the military aviation industry. However, our nation’s defense priorities have recently shifted from addressing threats from traditional nation-states to stateless terrorists. Given its experience fighting terrorism, its vast resources and its diverse employer base New York has the ability to become a leader in developing and commercializing homeland security/defense solutions. The Foundation is working with government and industry leaders to create the right environment to encourage economic development in the region. |

Education Working with national training leaders from across the country, ASFHS provides training and exercises for law enforcement, first responders and other homeland security personnel in a variety of different fields. Our state-of-the-art facility allows us to teach the most up-to-date techniques, procedures and processes. |
